About My Partner
I have noticed that I am much better at giving advice than following my own advice. When someone I care about has a problem, everything suddenly looks very clear. I can see what matters, what does not, what should be ignored and why there is absolutely no reason to panic. Then something happens in my own life and apparently all that wisdom takes the day off. I can overthink a message, imagine several versions of a conversation that has not happened yet, or worry about something that may never happen at all. Usually, after some time, I catch myself doing it and have to laugh. I think self irony is useful for exactly this reason. It reminds me not to turn every thought into a fact and every small worry into a prediction. I don't want to live as if I already know what happens next. That would make life terribly boring. Maybe that is why being on a dating site feels more interesting than strange to me. Somewhere among all these people there may be a man I would never have met otherwise. I don't know what his first message will be. I don't know whether we will immediately understand each other. I certainly don't know whether it will become love or a relationship. And I don't need to know yet. For someone who occasionally thinks too much, I am surprisingly comfortable with one idea. Some answers are better when life gives them to you later.

I want to meet the man who will make me wonder how we managed not to meet sooner. And then see what we can build from there.
